Project: Art in Geometry

In our first project for the year you will find or take at least 10 photographs that show examples of geometry in art. Be sure you are not violating copyright laws in any photographs you find (Do you have permission to use the material? Have you given credit for the material?). Remember, giving credit is not the same as having permission! Write a sentence or two about each photo and how geometry is reflected in it.
The project will be done electronically and turned in by adding a page with your photos to our class wikispace. You may insert each photograph or create a slide show with your photos. Be sure to check out the “web tools” page for some helpful tools.
The due date for the project has yet to be determined. Once your school email for this year has been set up, you will request to become a “member” of our wikispace. Once you are a member, you will be able to add your page. The due date will be set so that you will have 4 or 5 days to complete your page after all emails have been set up.

Instructions for adding your page:
  1. Sign in and choose “New Page” under the actions menu.
  2. When choosing a name for your page, remember to use something that will help you identify that the page is yours, and that will help you identify it with this particular project
  3. You can insert each individual picture by choosing the “insert files” icon which will allow you to upload and insert the image.
If you choose to use a slide show created on line, you would need to choose the “embed widget” icon. On the site where you created your slide
show, there will be an option to embed. You will get the code from the site and cut and paste it into embed widget.
You will not see the image when your are editing. Save the page and you should be able to see
the media you placed on your page.
4. If you used pictures found on-line, you will need to link to the page with that picture. Use the hyperlink icon, and past the address for that page in the
external link blank.
5. Once you have finished your project page, you need add a link to it on the “Art in Geometry” page. On the page, add your name. Highlight your name
and use the hyperlink icon, but this time you will choose to add a wiki link. You want to link to an existing page, and use the pull down menu to find
your page.
